Julie

An award-winning public relations and marketing communicator whose career has included a 50th anniversary commemoration, an appearance by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, research discoveries and major technological innovations.

Her versatility across diverse communications channels, steady composure in a crisis, and track record of client success speak volumes about her proficiency in the field. Today, she shares her talents with clients who value creativity, strategic thinking skills, and devotion to achieving a maximum return on their investment.

Julie is an experienced spokesperson as well as a strategic communications counselor, writer of content for press releases, pitches, op-eds, social, websites, collateral, White Papers, and newsletters. She has worked numerous legislative grassroots efforts.

Julie was director of Public Relations and Marketing Communications at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) for the past 12+ years. Prior to that, she held the role of director of Public Relations for AT&T for 20+ years. Between her roles at NSU and AT&T, Julie started her own PR firm handling everything from public affairs to art, culture and education.

She has an M.A. in Marketing and Public Relations from NSU and earned a B.S. in Journalism and Communications from University of Florida. Julie is a longtime member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is a tireless advocate for the ALS Association and animal rescue organizations.

In her time off, Julie’s source of joy comes from her children – Greg and fiancée Erin, and daughter Jamie and son-in-law, Andrew.  A native Floridian, she enjoys the ocean, walking her rescue Maltipoo, Charlie, and exploring the area.

Marla

Marla honed the skills that make her the successful communicator that she is today by serving in senior communications roles at major companies such as Nova Southeastern University and Memorial Healthcare System. Her breadth of experience also includes O’Connell & Goldberg Public Relations, Burger King Corporation, Independent Purchasing Cooperative, The Miami Herald and Jewish Family Service of Broward County.

Her varied background makes it possible for Marla to step into almost any business and help them achieve their communications objectives. For the past 15 years, much of her work has been focused on all aspects of healthcare from the perspective of patients, physicians, educators and consumers.

Marla relishes guiding projects from concept to completion, utilizing her own skills and calling on proven resources such as photographers, videographers, graphic designers and printers as needed. Her book, Reasons to Believe, is an apt showcase for her talents. It documents the challenges faced by Burger King Corporate headquarters in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew and stands as a model of turning crisis and catastrophe into opportunity.

She takes pride in staying on top of South Florida media as well as knowing how to target the right regional and national media members when warranted. Marla is particularly adept with public events like groundbreakings, ribbon cuttings, and major gift announcements.

Her B.A. in Journalism and Public Relations is from The University of Toledo. When she’s not working, Marla likes to cook, bake, read and take long walks. She also enjoys photography and takes photos of her favorite subjects: her husband Scott, their children and spouses and her granddaughter.
