Spechler+Oxenhandler featured in Business Monday.

Julie Spechler and Marla Oxenhandler are chief communications officers for the newly formed S + O Communicators. They previously worked in public relations and marketing communications for Nova Southeastern University. Spechler had also directed public relations for AT&T’s business and consumer operations in Florida. Oxenhandler has held key communications roles at Memorial Healthcare, Burger King Corp. and Jewish Family Service of Broward, among others.

It takes a village to fight this horrible disease. Help find a cure for ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) | Opinion

The author’s husband passed away last year from ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She’s urging South Floridians to contribute money to find a cure for this dreaded disease. One way is to attend the Battle of the Bands Fundraising event Nov. 9 at LauderdAle Brewery  to benefit ALS Association of Florida

Veterans at twice the risk for ALS – Researchers continue search for possible links

Increasing awareness about ALS – commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease – is a mission close to the heart for S + O Communicators. This Local WPLG10 medical segment focused on recent ALS research which shows, for reasons unknown,  veterans are twice as likely to get the disease, which has no cure.

VA neurologist says veterans twice at risk for ALS

This broadcast story debuted in December, 2019, and continues to air across the country on various affiliated television stations. It focuses on the fact that veterans are twice as likely to get ALS.  John Hartwell, an ALS patient from South Florida and Army veteran, is featured in the story as is Ashok Verma, M.D., neurologist and medical director of the ALS program at Miami V.A.
